Patrick Klar, M.D.

Pain Management Fellow

Where you went to college—Ole Miss
Where you went to medical school—UMMC
Hobbies/Interests—Ubering our children around, golf, tennis
Family—My wife, Crystal, and 4 kids- Eli, Kennedy, Markin (our 14-year-old triplets), and Cohen (9)
Fun Fact about yourself—I'm the oldest fellow this year, I practiced Anesthesia for 13 years prior to returning for fellowship
Why you chose anesthesia and a pain management fellowship—Several reasons led me to pursue a pain fellowship, but primarily I developed a desire to broaden my professional practice and have the opportunity to develop lasting doctor-patient relationships in my community while still using procedural skills to manage acute and chronic pain. Plus, I missed Dr. Rugnath, Dr. Prem, and Dr. Eriator.

Fun Fact—I was the previous MSU Mascot (Bully)
Why Pain Management Fellowship—It is procedure heavy, mostly happy patients, and has an entrepreneurial feel.

Hobbies/Interests—Football, traveling, and Brazilian barbecue
Family—Married to Pamela and father of Joanna
Fun Fact about yourself—I can’t sing in tune, but I somehow know the lyrics to hundreds of songs
Why you chose pediatric anesthesia—I chose pediatric anesthesia because caring for children in vulnerable moments is both humbling and rewarding, and it motivates me to give my best every day.

Dulci Anuel, M.D.

PGY-4/CA-3 Resident

Medical school—Universidad Central de Venezuela. Caracas, Venezuela
Hobbies—I love travelling, spending time with my son and family. I also enjoy hosting events at my house and exploring new places to eat.
Family: Oscar Alam (husband) and Vicente Alam (son)
Fun fact: I can dance salsa pretty well.
Why I chose anesthesia: Since I started studying medicine, I’ve always liked the surgical environment. I have really enjoyed that atmosphere and vibe so I decided I wanted to dedicate myself to caring for patients who went to the operating room.

Hobbies/Interests: Gaming, weightlifting, hanging out with my family

Fun Fact—I am an avid tennis player
Why I chose anesthesia:
     • Have always loved the environment of the OR (teamwork, interesting workflow, etc) 
     • Enjoy mix of medicine/pharmacology and procedural skill
     • No rounding!
     • One of the only specialties where you are able to diagnose a problem and immediately treat it!
